Snub-nosed breeds (e.g. Boxer, all Bulldogs, Pug, Shih Tzu, Cane Corso, Pit Bull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier) are not accepted in the aircraft hold or as cargo. Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Rottweiler, Doberman, Tosa Inu and similar breeds are not accepted in the cabin or hold.
Assistance dogs
AllowedTrained service dogs travel free in the cabin. They must be certified by an ADI, IGDF or EGDF member organisation and booked at least 48 hours before departure.
Summary
Dogs up to 8 kg including their carrier can travel in the cabin, one per passenger at a window seat, for €39 on domestic and €72 on international flights. Heavier dogs fly in the aircraft hold for €50 to €190 depending on size and route, but not on connections longer than 3 hours. Dogs must be at least 12 weeks old, microchipped and vaccinated against rabies. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia accept dogs only as cargo, and dogs flying to the UK must go as cargo to London Heathrow.
Soft-sided carriers are recommended since hard-sided ones may not fit under all seats; for DH8-100 and ATR aircraft the maximum is 40cm length x 25cm width x 25cm height. Only one animal per box/container is permitted.
Hold transport covers medium pets (8-25kg, max 71cm x 52cm x 55cm) and large pets (over 25kg, max 105cm x 75cm x 79cm); animals exceeding these dimensions, travelling unaccompanied, or to certain destinations must go via the Cargo Department. Animals are not accepted in the hold for connecting times exceeding three hours.
