Breeds classified as dangerous (Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Doberman, Argentine Dogo, Brazilian Mastiff, Tosa and Akita) are not accepted in the cabin or the hold. Snub-nosed (brachycephalic) dogs and cats are banned from the hold but may fly in the cabin within the 8 kg limit; otherwise both can only travel as cargo via IAG Cargo.

Summary
Dogs, cats, ornamental fish, tortoises and birds up to 8 kg including carrier are allowed in the cabin, bookable online at the time of purchase. Cats and dogs up to 45 kg including carrier may travel in the hold with prior authorisation, except snub-nosed and dangerous breeds. Cabin fees start at EUR40 per segment and hold fees at EUR90 per segment, both varying by zone; heavier or restricted animals must go via IAG Cargo.
Carrier must be robust and ventilated (at least 16% of the surface of the four sides) with a leak-proof base; on Iberia flights operated by Air Nostrum the carrier cannot be rigid. Three small, lightweight animals of the same species may travel in a single cabin carrier; the price is charged per carrier, not per pet.
Different aircraft have different limits on the number and size of kennels; for Iberia Regional Air Nostrum flights the maximum dimensions are 83 cm x 65 cm x 56 cm. Connecting transit time must be between 90 minutes and 4 hours. One kennel may hold two adult animals used to living together and weighing no more than 14 kg each, or three animals under 6 months from the same litter. Pets over 45 kg or restricted breeds must travel as cargo via IAG Cargo.
